SESSION PREPARATION

-----------------------------------------------------------------

PLEASE COME WELL FED, HYDRATED & RESTED

to optimize your comfort, pain tolerance & endurance.

MOISTURIZE & DE-HAIR THE AREA

Moisturizing the area you intend to tattoo will make your skin easier to work with for your artist.

If you can de-hair the area before your session, this can help us save on materials.

Our razors are biodegradable and we're happy to shave the area when you come in

but if you can use a re-usable home razor, that saves us a razor and some prep time.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO USE NUMBING CREAMS:

Make sure you use tattoo safe numbing cream & leave time to apply it before your session since

most creams need to sit on your skin for at least 45 minutes to an hour to be effective.

*cling wrapping the area you have applied numbing to and keeping the area warm

will help the skin absorb the cream and increase the effectiveness

We recommend Zensa Numbing Cream

(available at most grocery chains and drug stores or online if ordered in advance)

or

Dr.Numb

WHAT TO BRING

--------------------------------------------------

It is best to COME PREPARED with a SNACK or LUNCH & WATER

for your session or for the trip home, especially if you are in for a long session

(even if you are the type that usually skips lunch)

-

Everyone handles pain differently! If you need to distract yourself, feel free to

BRING ANY FORM OF ENTERTAINMENT OR DISTRACTION YOU MAY WANT/NEED

in order to get the most out of your session. *so long as you sit still

We don't take it personally if you are quiet & sometimes multi-tasking is hard!

Your artist may not be able to keep up conversation so having

entertainment if you would like it is more than welcome.

( I.e. music / headphones / audiobooks / movies / shows ... )

---------------------------------------------------

WHAT TO WEAR

----------------------------------------------------

PLEASE COME WITH CLOTHING THAT WILL ALLOW EASY ACCESS TO THE AREA

*Depending on the area & your personal comfort, some garments are better

suited for allowing access to the area while keeping you covered.

EXAMPLES:

High waist skirts/dresses with a side slit, tear-aways, adjustable strap

or high cut bikini bottoms for hip/thigh pieces.

A button-up shirt for center sternum pieces.

Halter tops, button-up shirts worn backwards or Backless clothing for Back pieces.

*feel free to bring options if you aren't sure what will work & you can ask your artist

*We have pasties & medical sheets available for tattoos where disrobing is necessary so

we can cover you as much as you need in order to feel comfortable. Your comfort is a priority.

-

BRING SOFT/LOOSE FITTING CLOTHES FOR AFTER YOUR SESSION

to protect your tattoo from any sun damage & limit friction/irritation.

----------------------------------------------------------

PLANNING FOR AFTER YOUR SESSION

----------------------------------------------------------

IT'S BEST NOT TO MAKE PLANS FOR RIGHT AFTER YOUR SESSION

unless you are alright with cutting your session short whether the tattoo is finished or not.

Given tattoo session length & start times depend on the project, person & many unpredictable

variables, your finish time may not be definitive & we do not rush pieces.

-

DO NOT MAKE PLANS TO ...

SWIM

SOAK

SWEAT

STRENUOUSLY EXERCISE

or SPEND TIME IN THE SUN

... FOR THE FULL DURATION OF YOUR HEALING

*(usually about 3-4 weeks for fine-line tattoos)

A QUICK RINSE/WASH IN THE SHOWER IS FINE.

JUST NO SOAKING or ALLOWING THE SKIN TO BECOME SATURATED with MOISTURE
